VBS Cupcakes

Sometimes the simple cupcakes are the best cupcakes!

I teach the kindergarteners at my church’s vacation bible school each summer. Every Thursday of VBS week, I bring in cupcakes for my class.

Our story for Thursday was about Paul’s shipwreck. I love this story, and it’s fun to teach to littles. Also, my class had their presentation during closing assembly, and I wrote a simple song for them to sing that went along with the story:

(sung to the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell”)
Paul sailed upon the sea.
Paul sailed upon the sea.
Row along and sing this song.
Paul sailed upon the sea.
The storm blew the boat.
The storm blew the boat.
Row along and sing this song.
The storm blew the boat.
An angel came to Paul.
An angel came to Paul.
Row along and sing this song.
An angel came to Paul.
They all jumped in the sea.
They all jumped in the sea.
Row along and sing this song.
They all jumped in the sea.
The people swam to shore.
The people swam to shore.
Row along and sing this song.
The people swam to shore.
God watches over us.
God watches over us.
Row along and sing this song.
God watches over us.

My simple cupcakes were vanilla with a pale blue icing (Swiss meringue buttercream). I used natural food coloring. I sprinkled on some Wilton Edible Accents (silver stars) and topped each cupcake with a Teddy Graham.

This was the first snack this week that EVERY child ate up entirely!
